My ARNETT family line comes from Bartholomew ARNETT/ARNDT**--the Hessian soldier, who after getting free passage from the British to the New World to fight those upstart colonists, is known to have changed sides and actually have fought against the British in the Revolutionary War.

Bartholomew Arnett is first known to have settled in present day Huntington Co. circa 1800 before moving to the Dayton, Ohio area circa 1806. He has descendants sill living in Dayton and points north to as far as Allen County, Oh.--although the majority of them that still live in Ohio probably live in the Miami County & Darke County areas.

Since this branch of the Arnett family is of Germanic origin, you may want to try looking in that direction for your Arnett ancestors. Also, the name was evidently originally spelled "ARNDT". Thus, you may want to try that spelling for an immigrant ancestor.

Sincerely,
William "Bill" H. Ream, Jr. -- an ARNETT descendant via his maternal grandmother
