Hello Kate,
My family history goes back to Andrew Armour (b. 1737)and his wife Elizabeth Small. They had a daughter, Janet b. 1776 who married David Bowman, and in turn their daughter Jane b. 1815 married John McLintock. These families have all been at Kilmarnock. Jane, daughter of John and Jane McLintock b. 1843 m. James Forrester, and these were the parents of my grandmother Isabella b. Kilmarnock in 1878. In the course of tracking back with this family I have heard the claim that there is a connection to Bonnie Jean who married Robbie Burns. Indeed I have heard this many times, but there does not seem to have been a connection made even though there are a number of people who have heard that there is a connection to their Armour connections. Do you know who was the earliest Armour in your family to come to Australia. I have been in touch with a couple of descendants of early arrivals, there was one, a minister who was at Korumburra, which is not far from where I am living.
