Armour family home -- Evanston, IL -- before 1933
Hi!
I am interested in finding out about a story that
I have heard since I was a child.According to the
story, my grandmother leased the Armour home at 1620
Ridge Avenue, Evanston, IL.My parents met there so
it has special meaning to me.
According to the story that I remember, the
reason the Armours did not want to live in the house
was that a child of theirs had died there.I would
tell this story in my family tree information, but
would rather make sure that it is true, before I put
it down in print for my grandchildren to read and pass
on.
My parents were married in 1933, so my
grandmother leased it a number of years before that.
It could have been as early as 1925 that my
grandmother leased the house, so that this child might
have died in the early 1920's.
The house was a lovely old house with many
bedrooms, including a tower room where my father
roomed, and a pipe organ in the house!
Hoping someone can help.
Priscilla
