DEAR DEB,
I HAVE AN ANN ARMOUR FROM RENFREW, SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN BORN AROUND 183?. MY PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER WAS MARGARET, THE SURNAME GETS A LITTLE MUDDLED. ON MY FATHERS BIRTH CERT. SHE IS KNOWN AS MARGARET ARMOUR BUT I HAVE JUST RECENTLY FOUND HER MARRIAGE LICENCE ON THIS SHE IS MARGARET BROWN, DAUGHTER OF DANIEL BROWN AND ANN ARMOUR (MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER) I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE FOR HER YET BUT I HAVE FOUND HER MARRIAGE RECORDS...AS FOLLOWS
MARGARET BROWN MARRIED JOHN HAMILTON MIDDLE CHURCH RENFREW
HER FATHER DANIEL BROWN WAS DECEASED AT THE TIME OF HER MARRIAGE, HE WAS A SERVING SOLDIER WITH THE ROYAL ARTILLERY REGIMENT. IT'S POSSIBLE THAT AFTER HIS DEATH HER MOTHER WENT BACK TO USING HER MAIDEN NAME OF ARMOUR AND THAT'S WHY IT IS ARMOUR ON MY FATHERS BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND NOT BROWN.
MY FATHER PASSED AWAY IN 1974. I HOPE THIS MAKES A LITTLE SENSE TO YOU AND IF YOU CAN SEE A CONNECTION I'D LOVE TO KNOW.
REGARDS
JESS HAMILTON
