I want to inform the group that I have
Registers of Death for my great-great
grandparents, Andrew and Mary Watson
of Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland.
I obtained them from the General Register Office,
New Register House, Edinburgh, through
Scots Origins website.
The information they contain is:
Andrew Watson, aged 66, died March 30, 1863
at Five Roads, Kilwinning. Husband of Mary (Armour),
he was a Toll Keeper. His father was William Watson,
a farmer, and his mother was Janet (Ramsay), both
deceased. Andrew's son, William, is the informant
listed on the Register.
So, if his age is correct, he would have been born
in 1797. Not 1801 as the LDS Family Search indicates.
Mary (Armour) Watson, widow of Andrew Watson,
Toll Keeper, died February 27, 1890, at Five Roads,
Kilwinning. Her age, according to the Register, appears to
be 74, but the 7 was not written particularly clearly; it
could be an 8.
Her father was James Armour, a Joiner, and her mother
was Mary (Hodge), both deceased. The informant was
Mary Ralston, daughter.
Mary Armour was born then in either 1816 or 1806.
