Born in Fergus, Ontario. An excellent player, a brilliant leader, and best remembered as the man who first organized a hockey club in the City of Winnipeg on November
3, 1890. This forward was captain until his retirement after the 1897 season. One of his greatest games was on February 14, 1896 in a sudden death game for the Stanley
Cup when Jack Armytage scored the winning goal in 2-0 victory over Montreal; the first time the Cup came West.
