Valerie - Elihu Armitage, Sr., son of Joshua and Elizabeth Jackson was b, May 27th 1794 or 1796. Place-Cawthorne by Barnsley, Yorks, Eng. Chris. High Hoyland, Yorks, Eng o7 July 1796. Judith Johnson 10 Nov 1817 Parish Church, Cawthorne by Barnsley, Yorks. He died Feb 17, 1879 - Scott Co., IL. I believe his parents were Joshua A. and Eliz. Jackson. To this union 13 children were born from 1818 to 1838. His Cawthorne residence was "Low Mill" He emigrated to the USA 4 June 1840 with 11 children on the ship "Sydney of Boston"-Liverpool to New Orleans. Soon after their arrival the family settled on 280 acres of improved land in Greene Co., IL. In 1852 he purchased land in Scott Co., Il where he prosicuted agriculture and was part owner of mill property. During this period the mill was very active sending grain all over the world. Could this be your relative? If so I can give you more information.
