Dear Amy,
I have information on Ithamar Armfield taken primarily from Sally Stockard's "the History of Guilford County, NC". I am using Family Tree Maker and have entered all of the Armfield names into a single file. I would be happy to share information with you.
I would like to know if someone is updating the Armfield history! The Stockard book was published in 1902, so there's a lot of updating to be done!
My information says that Ithamar was a son of Joseph B. Armfield and Eleanor Stevenson, and that Ithamar, born 1818, m. Martha Gates and had 3 children: Albert, Elizabeth, and Adela. It was quite common to name a child for a sister or brother. So your Mary Adela could indeed be a daughter of Albert! I show only 2 sons for Albert.
