Armfield Family Genealogy Forum

Diane,
I can understand your confusion over the Isaac's in the Armfield family. Probably in the earlier family this was the most common given name used by the Armfield's. To even begin to half way straighten out the different Isaac's you just about have to trace ALL early Armfield's in an attempt to separate them. Keep in mind there was two sets of Isaac, Sr., & Isaac, Jr's in the Armfield family. They were father, son, grandson, and great grandson. The first set of Isaac Sr. & jr. I believe both died before the 1790 census as neither was listed. We know the Isaac Jr. was deceased. His will was dated 1784, but no probate date. We know he is deceased as his widow/Exors of his estate receive 50 (pounds) for a horse impressed in Contl. service, in a record date Dec. 1787. The 2nd Isaac, Sr.was S/O Isaac, Jr. & Elizabeth. He m. Jane/Jean Armfield D/O Wm. (Little Billy) & Eliz. Greene. This Isaac died 22 Jan 1845; and was b. ca 1772. The 4th Isaac was the S/O the above Isaac & Jane/Jean Armfield. He was b. ca 1809; d. aft 1860 in Surry Co., NC & is bur Oak Grove Methodist Church Cem. That is a short run down on the Isaac Sr. & Jr's, but doesn't include the many other Isaac's that lived in the same area.
The Isaac that was the F/O Joab was the S/O Wm. Little Billy & Eliz. Greene. We know this Isaac was deceased as hinted at in the will of Wm. (Little Billy), and also found in the McCubbin papers of NC
I have Rachel Armfield m. to JOHN Macy, but no date of marriage. Her sister, Mary m. Obed Macy10 Apr 1803 Bd in Stokes Co., NC. I have not checked to see if John & Obed were brothers. Hope this helps. If additional question ask away.
