Joyce, and whoever needs this information: for those who wish to calculate the birthdates of the SPOUSES of the three Armfield sisters of Joab Armfield (the death dates and ages at death of the three sisters are in a previous posting), Jonathan Edwards(husband of Virteous (Armfield) Edwards) "died Aug 10, 1879, aged 76 yrs 15 dys" . Gilbert Edwards(husband of Matilda (Armfield) Edwards) "born April 8,1797, died Sept 25,1858". Joseph Daugherty(husband of Eleanor (Armfield) Daugherty) "died dec 27,1847, aged 39 yrs 8 mos 22 dys" ( Eleanor Daugherty was refered to as "consort of Joseph Daugherty" in the cemetery compilation.possibly this was on the stone? (a marriage bond for her and joseph exists in Guilford County, N.C.) The following abstract excerpts are taken from a work titled :"Court Records-Rush County,Indiana-1822 to 1857" by Maurice Holmes published March 1975 . From Complete Record Probate Books Book #7 1849-1851 page 95 "the will of Joseph Daugherty dec. who died Dec 7, 1847(yes there is a differance in the deathdate from the cemetery record I quote from and this court record date, I don't know which is correct) was filed in court Jan 5,1848.He mentions his wife Eleanor, and appoints her his executrix. The will was dated Seot 10, 1847 and was witnessed by Finley Bigger and George B.Tingley. John Woods and Jonathan Murphy were appraisers of the personal property. The widow listed as Deborah in final settlement of this estate, Aug term 1849." (remember that this is a condensed abstract in the words of Maurice Holmes the compiler) From Complete Record Probate Books, Book #10 1853-1854 ,page 498 "Jonathan Murphey Sr. was app. administrator May 5,1852 of the estate of Eleanor Daugherty dec. whom died April 11, 1852.Isaac N.Daugherty listed as the only adult child of Eleanor relinquishes his right as adm. Joel Armfield (probably JOAB)and George Henderson were appraisers of the personal property.Final settlement of this estate made to Isaac N.,Joab,Mary,Ellen,Susannah A.,Virtous C.,and Joseph A.Daugherty. Jan.term 1854" From book #12 1856-57 page 221 "Jonathan Murphy is app. guardian Jan 3,1854 of Joab,Mary,Ellen,Susannah,Virtous C.,and Joseph C. Daugherty. Final settlement made as to Mary who is now Mary Busby.Jan 1856" I have a copy of the death record (state of iowa) for Elizabeth Jane (Armfield) Lambert if anyone is interested.
