regarding parentage of Joab Armfield: from a book of abstracts of guilford county, north carolina wills(don't have the title page of the this particular work anymore) B:0750 - William Armfield- 4 may 1832-no probate date - wife Elizabeth-benefit of dwelling house,furniture & plentiful support of plantation,horse beast,cow & calf. Son Robert-stock at decease or remarriage of wife,all my land & farming tools & balance of property. Daus. Jane Armfield,Rachael Macy,Mary Macy,Sarah Hiatt & Elizabeth Unthank - each $2 Sons- Jacob $2; William- $10 - Son Isaac- $55 to be divided among his children: his son Joab to have $50; the other $5 to be divided the others of his children: Robert,Matilda Edwards,Virtueous Edwards,& Elinor Daugherty. Grandson William Nelson Armfield- $55 Executors: son Robert Armfield, David Edwards witnesses: Alfred Armfield, John Hiatt, J.M. Morehead, Amis Bain ---- Codicil 22 Jan 1833------(end of information from will abstract)----- further note:marriage bond records from guilford county,n.c. show marriages of Joab,Matilda,Virtuous,and Elinor to their respective spouses. same record notes all three girls as "daughter of Isaac Armfield". all 4 of these families emigrated to Rush County, Indiana at about the same time. where they all lived until they died.they lived very close to each other, were members of the same methodist church,the girls and their spouses were buried in the same cemetery.many children bear names of their aunts and uncles and none of these families intermarried.
