Hamilton ARMFIELD, b. ca. 1821, prob. in IN

Some researchers of the Linville line have documented a Hamilton ALEXANDER who married a Jemima/Jemimah LINVILLE (daughter of Thomas LINVILLE and Jemimah CAMPBELL) on 2 Nov 1843 in Buchanan Co., MO. These two are the parents of Tyrus/Tyras/Tiras Alexander ARMFIELD (b. 29 Oct 1845 in MO and d. 11 Jan 1926, Fresno, CA), my gg-grandfather. Tyrus married Sarah Margaret BECKETT, b. 1846 in NJ and d. 1910 in Napa, CA. Their son was William Alexander ARMFIELD, b. 12 Oct 1873, Salinas, CA and d. 16 Mar 1944, Santa Rosa, CA.

The 1860 Federal census for Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co., California lists a multi-family household with these members:

John McGee, M, 35, b. abt. 1824 in Kentucky
Sarah McGee, F, 34, b. abt. 1825 in Kentucky
James H McGee, M, 12, b. abt. 1847 in Missouri
Amanda McGee, F, 6, b. abt. 1853 in California
Josephine McGee, F, 1, b. abt. 1858 in California
Wm D C McGee, M, 4, b. abt. 1855 in California
Abram H Linville, M, 33, b. abt. 1826 in Kentucky
Rebecca Linville, F, 28, b. abt. 1831 in Missouri
Lucy Linville, F, 5, b. abt. 1854 in California
Mary Linville, F, 4, b. abt. 1855 in California
Josephine Linville, F, 2, b. abt. 1857 in California
Matthew Hays, M, 27, b. abt. 1832 in Tennessee
Jemima Hays, F, 33, b. abt. 1826 in Missouri
Mary Hays, F, 2, b. abt. 1857 in California
Tyrus A Armfield, M, 15, b. abt. 1844 in California
Jackson H Armfield, M, 12, b. abt. 1847 in New York

If this is indeed my Tyrus ARMFIELD, then the Jemima listed here may be his remarried mother.

The Tyrus ARMFIELD of my line appears definitely (as "T.A. Armfield") in the 1880 Federal census for Sumner, Coos Co., OR:

Armfield, T.A., white male, age 35, occupation: lumberman, born MO, father born IN, mother born MO
Armfield, S.M., white female, age 31, housekeeper, born IA, father born [blank], mother born PA
Children and their ages and state of birth:
James A., 12, CA
Mary E., 10, CA
Emma E., 8, CA
Willie A., 6., CA
Louis L., 4, CA
Hattie, 6/12 [i.e., b. Dec 1879], OR

This "Willie A." is my g-grandfather William Alexander. The other children's full given names are James Albert, Mary Elizabeth, Emma Eveline, Louis Lemuel (also appearing elsewhere as "Lemuel Lewis"), and Hattie May; born after the 1880 census were Lillian Adelphia and Franklin Ray.

I would be grateful for any info at all about Jemima and Hamilton. I suspect that the Hamilton ARMFIELD of my line is not this person appearing in the Jasper Co., MO, census for 1870:

Armfield, Hamilton, 38, blacksmith, b. MO
-- David, 14, b. MO
-- James M, 11, b. MO
-- Julian Mc, 7, MO

-- Stephen Alexander Carter
