In the biography of George Armfield Smith which can be found in fineoldart.com provided by cantor-roughton, there is a reference to a mrs. Kerrigan who is said to be the great granddaughter of the artist. Perhaps you could contact her.
In the biography there are 3 Armfields: George A. 1818-1865, George Armfield Smith (fl 1840-1875) and Edward A. (19th century, British). The Adec.com painters biography mentions Edward A (1817-1896), Edwin A. (?-c.1875) and George Smith A. (1808-1893). Can anyone straighten out who is who?
Regarding Edward Armfield, its is said in the biography that 'Edward A. was considered an English animal painter. ... It has been said by historians that his real name may have been Edward A. Smith'. Do anyone know anything more about him???
