Augustine was the 5th child of Augustine and Virginia Flook Ermentraudt, born about 4 months after his father's death in 1830. He married Julia Derrer in 1851 at the age of 20. He was a very prosperous farmer and in 1860 he owned land valued at $4950 and per. property valued at $876. His farm was located in the Central District. The Massanutten Caverns were on his farm. His 1st wife Julia died about 1863, prob. shortly after the birth of their 7th child, Edward. Augustine was a Confederate Army veteran and was remarried after the close of the Civil War in 1865. His 2nd wife was Margaret Price and to this union 6 children were born. The value of the farm in 1870 was $4000 and his per. property was valued at $2500. At this time there were 10 children and his wife Marggie living in his home. Augustine and both wives were buried in the town cemetary at Keezletown, VA.
Augustine's parents were Augustine Ermentraudt b: 20 Oct 1791 Rockingham Co., VA d: 2 Oct 1830 Rockingham Co., VA. m 20 Feb 1820 Rcokingham Co., VA to Virginia Elizabeth Flook b. c 1800 daughter of Henry Flook. Children were 1. Lydia Ann (1821-1892) 2. Daniel (1824-1884) 3. Melvina (1827- ) 4. Augustine Jr. (1831-1906). Augustine was the 2nd child of Peter and Margaret Wolf Ermentraudt. He worked on his father's farm located north of present day Keezletown, Va as a boy and young man. He was 23 years of age when he enlisted in Capt. William Harrison's Co., 1st VA Vol., 24 Aug 1814, for service in the War of 1812. Six years later, in 1820 he married Virginia Flook and to this union were born 5 children. There may have been other children. He and his wife and family were members of St. Phillps Church and some of thier children were bapt. there. Their names also appears on the lists ofthe communicants of St. Phillips. Augustine lacked just a little over 2 weeks in 1830 of his 39th birthday at his death. He was buried in the cem. at St. Phillips Ch. A little over 7 years later in 1838 his widow mar. Levi Huddle.
