I would say that these 2 ladies areMarguerite's sisters. Elena G would make sense because her middle name would be a form of Gregory. Both Marguerite and Vera's middle names were Gregory.
Varsenik's manifest entry says that she is joining Hellen Bezanian, her sister. This must be Elena Bejanian. They are both from Tiflis. So they both have this rare last name, are the same general ages as Marguerites sisters and were born in the same city with one name the same and one similar.
Varsenik would have to be Vera or Rose, most likelyVera since I can't find an entry in the US for her, and since I have her social security application when she lived in NY we know that she was here.
Did you note their height? One was 5'4" and the other was 5'6". One had brown eyes and the other had blue eyes. Although when you go to the manifest of the one with brown eyes you'll note that they wrote brown across the columns of hair/eyes etc. on all of the people on that page. Which seems like they were more generalizing than actually checking it out.
Marguerite was only about 4' 10" or so. I always assumed the entire family was short. She had these rare Armenian blue eyes.
Varsenik's age was 25, but Vera would have been 28. This could be just a typo. I got Vera's birthdate from her ss application.
When most people didn't have 50.00 to their names, Varsenik arrived with 150.00. Isn't that interesting?
Vera arrived in the US a Bejanian, yet she was a DeVeeff when she died. I have looked all over for any DeVeeff's and can't find one at all, anywhere. I don't know who her husband was or when/where they married. There isn't even a Deveeff in the social security records (except her that is). There is no DeVeeff in any online family site in any form.
