Tokmakian/Chakmakian same name?

I'm trying to find information on my grandfather Manoug TOKMAKIAN - who arrived
in the US somewhere around 1905. He came
from Van, now in Turkey. We know of one
other Tokmakian family in the US, in MA, also
from Van. But we can't connect the two
families yet.

Does anyone know if Tokmakian & Chakmakian
are the same name? Tokmakian means "son of
a sledgehammer". What is the meaning of
Chakmakian?
