I am searching for information regarding my grandfather's family. Here is
what I have been told.
His name was Minas Harry ARIKIAN, born 1882 or 1888 in Maras, Turkey. His
parents are listed as Hagop Arikian and Lucine Baghdasarian. My grandfather
immigrated to the US sometime 1895 and 1916. He told us he had a sister, but
I do not know her name. We have also been told that Hagop worked for the
Turkish government.

Is ARIKIAN a true Armenian surname or has it been shortened or changed from
the original name? I also know it has been spelled "AREKIAN."

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
