Hello Eileeen! I did a double-take when I saw my e-mail this morning because I only just posted my inquiry a day or two ago! At any rate, I have not come upon the spelling Timaxian before, only Tahmazian and Tahmasian. It is very likely that the names are one and the same, however. In many cases, the spelling of a family's last name was changed when they immigrated to America - the immigration officer would spell the name for the family if they could not speak English, and from then on, the spelling was permanent. The only positive piece of information I can provide you is that I do have records of there being Tahmazians (and Piranians) in Sivas. I'm going to give you the e-mail address of a Tahmazian relative and perhaps they can help you further: etconsul@home.com. They have been researching their family history on the internet, as well. Good luck and holler if I can help you with anything! Anna :-)
