Thanks to both Jerry and Joanne for their input. I've been off line for awhile and am just beginning to get back to some of my on line haunts.

It seems that the Kurkjian brothers from this particular family all settled in Grand Rapids. The Mullians as well, although there is a family tradition that some of the family settled in New Jersey, so maybe the Melians are related. A friend of my husband who lived in Jersey said she had once dated a Mullian, then said, no, they spelled it differently. I also saw on a list of names at George's site the spelling Malian.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
