Thank you so much for responding to my plea for help.
I had been told that records of the Armenian churches had been burned at the time of the genocide, but wasn't sure if that was the fact. You have confirmed this for me.
My husband's parents came to New York separately, but met and married here. None of their families came to the US. This was before the genocide. His father's mother and sister escaped to a Greek ship that was sent to help the refugees. They lived in Greece. I have tried to find records of them there, but didn't have any luck on an initial visit to the library. I guess I need someone who reads Greek.
I would like to get the information from the Teotig, and the Smyrna book. How would I go about doing this? Are they available on line? How would I get someone to translate them for me? My husband is 82 years old and has memory problems, so I don't think he could. I am not Armenian.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much
