Parchanj I see that Joe Zeronian posted a message in 2005, regarding the book titled Village of Parchanj, by Manoog B. Dzeron. Manoog was my father's uncle. Manoog's sister, Mariam, was my grandmother. I was very interested to read about Joe Zeronian's visit to the Village in 1993. I have a copy of the original book in Armenian and the translation by Arra S. Avakian. I have seen Dzeron spelled many ways..also the shortened version, Dzeron, Zeron and Seron. Since family names were not as we know them now, it seems that many versions occurred with emigration to the U.S. In the old county the family was frequently known by the patriachs first name or importance in the community. Often the suffix, "enk"followed, which loosely translated means "we are". Americanized version of Kharpet (Kharpert) is Harpoot, which seems foreign to my ears. I don't know if any of this information will reach those who are interested. Hopefully, I will hear from others who are somehow a descendant of Kharpet (Kharpert).
