Der Hovanessian -- the prefix Der implies that someone was a priest at one point and the Der (Der Hayr, our father) never was dropped. Hovanessian is a VERY common surname. Johnian seems to be a form of Hovespian? I'm not sure though. Boghosian is also very common.
