Hi this is David Arathoon from Canada.
Yes, Chater is famous name in Calcutta and Armenian.
I believe a famous one was Sir Paul Chater. and I have a picture of him somewhere.
I don't have the info as it is not so far a family I am involved with, though Arakiel is.

Are you Armenian or what??? Indian, Anglo-Indian....
I ask because I am aware of Indians with the name Chaterjee, however that may be spelt, they shortened their names at some point to make it less Indian.


I also have British descent from the Malcolms of Scotland and the Glovers of Lymington, South Hampton, though those ancestors are late 18th early 19th century ones. I mention it, should your know anything.
