I am trying to verify the parents of Sarkis OHANESSIAN, born in Giresun, Turkey on 15 March 1849; died 23 May 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. According to naturalization documents, he emigrated to New York in 1887, but I haven't located him on a passenger list. He married Mary SUZENIDJIAN in Istanbul on 3 June 1879 and they had two daughters: Ankin, born 23 July 1882 and Sirvart, born October 1883. Mary and the girls emigrated to New York in 1891 but I haven't found them on a passenger list either.
Sarkis wrote a book, "Life's Demand in the 20th Century", published by Armenia Press in 1918. I have only the preface of this book, and in it he mentions that his mother was a JAMGOTCHIAN. His death certificate says his father was Minas OHANESSIAN.
