I was born and raised in Guelph and although I am not an Arkell, but am an extremely distant relative. My great, great great-grandfather, James Hewer emigrated to Canada with Thomas and John Arkell in 1830. They were in the group of original settlers of what was originally Farnham Plains and is now the village of Arkell. When John Arkell returned to England, he married Elizabeth Hewer in 1833 and later founded the Arkell Brewerey in Swindon Gloucestershire. I have additional material that might be of interest to you. Would be happy to hear from you.
John Hewer, Victoria Canada
