Alan:

This is a long shot, but here goes.

There is a family of Orricks in Warren Co TN in 1850 and 1860. The father John possibly died at the battle of Shiloh. This family pronounced their name ARK and in 1870 they are listed in the Grundy Co TN census as ARKE. In 1880 they are in Coffee Co, TN as ARRICK. One of the sons moved to TX around 1884 and went by ARRICK which is the ancestor of many modern day ARRICKs in TX, including me. One of the daughters married in Johnson Co TX and her marriage cert says ARICK. At least 2 of the daughters use ARK and stayed in TN. One of the sons moved to southern IN and used ARRICK.

Now, there is a WILLIAM in this family born around 1855 in TN which I can find no trace of. He is in TN in 1860 and possibly 1870, but not 1880.

There is another branch of ARRICKs in Northern IN which don't appear to be connected to the TN Orricks.

Is there any more information you can provide about him?

Also, there is a big batch of Orricks in AR.
