Argo is a greek name. There was a greek city-state called ARGOS and its people were called Argo. There is also the legend of Jason and the Argonauts (sailers). Ancient greek mythologoy also mentions an Argo as some god.

A USA atv manufacturer makes an 6 & 8 wheel all-terrain verhicle called ARGO. They claim the name Argo comes from Viking ancestry. I have not heard of that one or seen anything to back it up.
