Philip and Rueben Long, sons of Paul Long and wife Barbara (surname unknown) married Elizabeth Arey and her sister Susannah Arey.

Paul Long was born 1711 in Pennsylvania and died Apr 4, 1759 in Shenandoah County, VA. His wife Barbara was born Sep 29, 1708 and died Feb 11, 1778 in Shenandoah County, VA.

Phillip Long was born Dec 18, 1742 in Augusta Co, Va and died Feb 5, 1826 in Page County, VA. He married Elizabeth Arey during 1772 in Shenandoah Co, VA. She was born Feb 11, 1775 in Frederick Co, Va and died Nov 21, 1797 in Page County, VA.

Reuben Long was born after 1742. He married Susannah Arey approximately 1787. She was born about 1786 in Rockingham Co, VA and died about 1809 in Warren Co, Ohio.

Elizabeth and Susannah are believed to be the daughter of a German immigrant, Johann Gottlieb Ihrich, AKA Cutlip Eariss, Cutlip Arie, Cutlip Eary, and Cutlip Airy. Cutlip being the phonetic spelling of Gottlieb and the various spellings of Arey being the spelling of Ihrich. He is believed to have been married twice. His first wife may have been named Elizabeth (the same name as his first daughter) and his second wife was named Mary based on records after his death. A Gottlieb Ihrich arrived in Philadelphia by ship on September 14, 1751. In 1770 a Cutlip Eariss was given a land grant in Virginia. Birth records for a Johann Gottlieb Ihrich in Germany indicate that he was born Feb 16, 1723/24.
