We have information on the first generationof Arends here in the USA. Nicholas Arends and his wife Mary (Kaufman), immigrated from Mensdorf, Luxenburg, (which I think was part of Germany then)to Port Washinton, Wisconsin.
The had 2 daughters and three sons born in Fort Washington. In 1867, the family moed to O'Dell , Levington, Ill. In 1877, Nicholas and wife, Mary, and 2 sons, Mathias and Nichlas, moved to St. Livory, Howard County, Nebraska.
I have more information that I received from my husbands uncle just yesterday. Magnalena(Lena) Arends was my husbands grandmother. We have papers that have all the family members from their immigration. They were drawn up because of the property that was donated to the church in St. Labory.
