Good Morning Will,
I have a subscription to Ancestry.com that includes the census. I did a preliminary search for Jordan Ardoin but found nothing. If you send your father's name, year of birth, and location, I may be able to find him on the census. The census for 1930 is the last one released.
I looked in the 1900 United States Federal Census and this is what I found on the Whittemore family:

Father's Name: N T
Mother's Name: Lula
Race: White
All b. Tennessee
Head: N T Whittemore b. Jul 1844 Enumerator first wrote 28 years - changed to 11 years. So he probably married the children's mother in 1872
Wife: Lula Whittemore b. Mar 1863 married 11 years - m. 1889 - obviously she is not the children's mother
Son: J W Whittemore b. Jan 1873
Dau: Julia Whittemore b. Mar 1879
Son: J C Whittemore b. Feb 1875
Dau: Susie Whittemore b. Feb 1875 (?) this may be a typo
Dau: Bessie Whittemore b. Apr 1878
I have a very large Ardoin Family File from Southwest Louisiana, but I have no Ardoin's from TN in my database.
