Dear Lionel, After much research, I have learned I am not an Ardoin descendant although two of my grandfathers married Ardoin sisters, Azema Ardoin and Armide Ardoin. My maternal grandfather, Villeneuve LeDoux married first Azema Ardoin and together they had 8 children. After Azema Ardoin died, Villeneuve LeDoux married Adelaide Simon Fontenot the wid. Sonnier. They had two children who survivied. Three girls died in infancy. I found baptismal records for two of the girls but not the third and I believe she died at birth or shortly thereafter. The two girls who survivied were my mother, Alcina LeDoux married Adam Morein (my parents and your neighbors on Laran St). The second girl was Alcedia LeDoux who married Hampton Fuselier. The amazing thing about all of this is that Azema Ardoin's sister, Armide Ardoin the wid. Fontenot, was my grandmother Adelaide's stepmother! My maternal great-grandparents were Alcide Placide Simon Fontenot and Emelite Rozas. After Emelite died, Placide married Azema Ardoin's sister,Armide. Family relations do get complicated. In the confusion, I thought I was an Ardoin descendant. Long story short: I did so much research on the Ardoin Family I ended up with a very nice family file and I have sold three copies of my research, printed in book format. Not only that, but two of the ladies who bought my Ardoin research are going to be in Ville Platte July 4th. They have told me they are going to look-up your mother, and what's more, they also bought copies of her book still available from Andrepont printing. I was in Ville Platte in October to attend my sister Catherine's funeral. Cat was married to Hasker Garland. If you remember, the Garlands also lived on Laran Street. I don't know when I will be able to visit again, but hope to visit early this summer, before the weather gets too hot. Bobby Dardeau has asked me to write a column for Bonnes Nouvelles. My first column was published by BN in Evangeline Parish "Buggy Tracks" - a new, quarterly publication. My second column was published in the February issue of Bonnes Nouvelles. If the column gets good results Bobby will continue to publish it. How about that! Hope all is well with you and yours. Best regards to your mom.
