Dear Cindy, Sometime ago I visited with our friend and neighbor, Ms. Aimee Ardoin Guillory, and bought one of her books. I am not an Ardoin descendant, but two of my grandfathers married Ardoin sisters. Azema Ardoin d/o of Achille Ardoin & Amelie Fontenot was the first wife of my maternal grandfather, Villeneuve LeDoux. After Azema Ardoin died, Villeneuve m. Adelaide Simon Fontenot the widr. Sonnier. Villeneuve and Adelaide are my mother's parents. Adelaide Simon Fontenot was the d/o Alcide Placide Simon Fontenot and Emelite Rozas. Interestingly enough, after Emelite Rozas died, Alcide Placide Simon m. Armina Ardoin a sister of Azema Ardoin. Relations sure do get complicated. The book, La Famille Ardoin de la Louisiane, was published for the first reunion of the Descendants of Simeon Ardoin, b. January 05, 1840, s/o Elie Ardoin Sr., bt. Sept. 05, 1807. Elie was the s/o Francois Ardoin & Laurina (aka Honorine) Quebedeau. The book was written by Carola Ann Lillie Andrepont. Genealogy research by Aimee Ardoin Guillory. Edited by Kathleen Eastin Soileau. If I have it right, you descend from Théodule Ardoin, b. June 23, 1846, s/o Achille Ardoin I, b. September 05, 1815. Achille was the s/o Francois & Laurina Quebedeau. The Ardoin Book: Introduction - History of the Ardoin Name, beginning on page 15. You would like that. Chapter 1: The Ardoin Family in Louisiana, beginning on page 21, includes The Soileau Family of Louisiana. Your ancestor, Achille Ardoin, born on September 05, 1815, is listed on page 24. He married Emilie Zenon Fontenot on May 08, 1838 at Opelousas, LA. As far as I can tell, the book does not follow the descendants of Achille Ardoin and Emilie (aka Amelie) Zenon Fontenot. But, I have a question. Before Achille Ardoin m. Emilie (Amelie) Zenon Fontenot, a boy, also called Achille Ardoin, was born January 29, 1837, bt. St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, LA. Achille Ardoin and Marie Elisia Guillory were named as parents. I have come to believe that the boy, Achille Ardoin, is the son of Achille Ardoin, b. 1815, who later married Emilie (aka Amilie) Zenon Fontenot. Have you come across this information in your research? My maternal aunt, Alcedia LeDoux, was married to Hampton Fuselier who did serve time in the pen for bootlegging. Although I was very young at the time, I remember this very well. Tant Cedia lived with us while he did his time.
