Ardis Family

This is for everyone wanting to know about the Ardis Family.
My 4th Great Grandfather was John William Ardis born Dec. 1837 in Privateer Township, Sumter,SC. Died July 10, 1915. He was in the Civil War and so were his brothers, James Lawrence Ardis, William Joseph Ardis, and William S. Ardis, all of Company C, Palmetto Battalion, Light Artillery. Thomas Ardis died of disease during the war and listed on the Doc Monument in Sumter, SC.
Anyhow think most of the Ardis, even those in the west coast come from the same origin. thing is Ardis is French, the S is silent like it doesn't exist. I have a family crest that I am willing to share and would like to compare it to the one that the gentleman in the UK has. Would be neat comparing these..
Hope to hear from someone soon..
