Archibald Family Genealogy Forum

This is not a name that I am connected with or researching; I just saw the query and thought I might be able to help. First of all you are not likely to find a birth certificate. They didn't exist in that period. The province did make an attempt to record births between 1864 and 1877 although it was by no mean 100%. In a few places the practice was continued after 1877 but it was not legislated until the early 1900's. Early Nova Scotia Vital Stats can be accessed at

This is a free, searchable site and by downloading a free viewer program available onsite, you can see the actual record. I found both the marriage record and Death Certificate of Suther Currie; also marriage records of Eliza Ann Archibald to Michael Howlan in 1869 and Eliza Ann Howland to Peter Curry in 1872.
