I would like to trace a Captain Arbuthnot (sorry, no Christian name available) of the 14th Hussars who was involved in the Napier Expeditionary Force to Ethiopia (Abyssinia) in the 1860s and donated an item of ecclesiastical value to St. John's, Princes St. Edinburgh. I am aware of a Sir William Arbuthnot, Lord Provost of Edinburgh, who was a member and trustee of St. John's and is buried in the Churchyard. Were they related?
