Re: Orebaugh or Arbaugh?

you are probably correct in your conclusions, but you have a lot of work to do. You're going to have to go back to each generation and look at the actual documents. For example. I have my "first" generation Adam Arbaugh is his generally accepted name. I have a copy (although poor) of his will. I have translated (interpreted)Adam's last name as Arbaugh and his wife name is written our as Orbaugh. I found a typed copy of the will on everton.com that states both last names are Orbough. When every I do a general search I use Arbaugh, Arbough, Orbaugh, Orbough, Orobaugh, and Orobough. I think My brother has the lineage cinched up as Arbaugh's all the way back. I believe Danny Campbell does too. I'm sure that some of Adam & Anna's sons and daughters may have used variations to make their own last names. It is also my belief that literacy was an issue and so the last names were created based on what people (who could read write) thought the Arbaugh's were pronoucing. I have a poor (photocopied many times then digitalized) that I can e-mail you so you can see what I'm trying to explain.
good luckjim
