Hello,
I might add that in John Arant's ledger. He writes that he sends money to Fayette Co, AL to Philip Aaron Otts. His mother was Elizabeth Aaron (Aaron was meant to mean Arant. Elizabeth could not spell and people there spelled it that way. Her husband was Michael Otts from Mecklenburg Co, NC (which is today Union County, NC that borders Chesterfield Co, SC).

Also, on the estate of John Arant was a bell that was very old and crafted in Alabama. Intersting. It is Civil War era or before. It was forged in AL.

Now, Butler Co, AL is intersting b/c a Philip Arant (most agree that he is not the Philip from chesterfield Co but the one from Orangeburg, SC) buys land in AL in 1831. He lives in Lowndes Co, AL or Bulter. I can not correctly recall w/o looking, but I know many Arants lived in Butler b/c I remember seeing it in the paperwork.

Julie
