Ben, please note there are two distinct Phillip Arant. One dies in Chesterfield County, SC where father Peter ARant b.1749 lives.Aaron ARant writes in ledger, Philip Aaron a lot.He also writes P Arant deceased in 1836.There is another Philip Arant who genealogist have said match the one from Orangeburg Arants who moved to Lowndes County, AL in 1849.That Philip is not my Philip. I know b/c Philip Arant of Chesterfield Co, SC was married to a Nancy Arant and had many sons. These sons would not have been left behind by their father. They were too young. You must know also that it is one of thesesons, Richard ARant b.1817 that received the thousands and thousands of acres that belonged to Peter Arant, SR. the revolutionary war veteran who died in 1842.Richard inherited the bulk of the estate, not the Philip Arant living in AL in 1850 census.I am telling you that there is NO mention anywhere of the Philip ARant in AL.And let me add, that that Philip already had a John And Richard in his household. That can not be our Philip b/c our John and Richard ARant were living in Chesterfield Co, SC at the same exact time. These are two different Philip. However, I will admit that they are kin to one another.Barbara Till as this one mentions has descendents who relyed to me Martin Arantb. 1803 who lived in Chesterfield Co, SC and later moved to AL in the 1860 or 1870 census.Martin was first married to Mary Threatt as Barbara Till relatives tell me.This was a great coup b/c up till then no one knew that. They had a bible of that.Martin Arant's oldest son by Mary Threatt was Hugh Alexander Arant who moved to ARK and changed name to Hugh Aarant. His family contacted me and we noted there were reasons for this change. His descendents live in TX as Aarant.
Aaron ARant b.1784 moved to KY with is family in 1831.You will find them there in Paducah, KY.Conrod Arrant b.1740's lived in Lancaster Co, SC and his sons moved to GA and live. There are a few ARants in LA as well.
Be careful in your research of this Arant line due to repetitious names. Also, note that census reports are duplicated. For example, Peter ARant, SR. revolutionary war veteran lived on the stateline and owned thousands of acres of land.He appears in the same census year in Anson County, NC census and in Chesterfield Co, SC census (these counties border stateline). One man but two records of his birth. Also note, Arant will appear on census reports as Arion, Aaron, Arron, Arndt, Arnett, Arrant, Arant, etc.I have used this ledger book/diary to trace their movements and appearance on census reports.
