From oral history, Rufus CARTER,( not found on any census) was b. ca 1872 and died ca 1902, had at least two brothers; Lee who was the Chief of Police of Muskogee, OK in 1930 ( undocumented ) , and Jarrett Frank CARTER who resided in LeFlore co. OK and was listed as the County Sheriff on the 1920 Le Flore co. census. Hoping to find info on Rufe by researching brothers.
I have found a few postings about Jarrett Frank Carter but when I go to document them, they don't quite match up.
Our Jarrett Frank CARTER. married Flora Catherine MELCHOR - (Melcher) on 11 June 1888 in Crawford co. AR. ( AR online marriage index) Flora was the daughter of Wm. H. and Harriett HILL Melchor and resided in Yell County in 1870 and 1880.
The 1900 census for Indian Territory, Choctaw Nation, twp 8,
lists Jarrett F. CARTER ( misindexed as Janett F.) b. Feb. 1856 NC.
On the 1910 census, LeFlore co,Oklahoma, Jarrett " Janed" says that this is his third marriage and Flora's 1st.
Ages on LeFlore co. census for Jarrett Frank were 1900 age 44, 1910 age 53 , 1920 age 62 .
From the WWI Draft registration Cards, their 1st son Levi "Lee" Jackson CARTER was born 8 Sept. 1888 in Alma, Crawford co. AR.
From census ages, it is more likely that he was born in 1898;
1900 Choctaw Nation, Indian Terr. twp 8, Levi J. age 11;
1910 Spiro, LeFlore co. OK, Lee J. CARTER age 21;
1920 Poteau, LeFlore co. OK Lee J. CARTER age 31;
1930 Okfuskee co. OK age 40.
Levi CARTER married Dora ROGERS on 6 Mar. 1909 in LeFlore co. OK and on the 1910 census they had a daughter, Velma M, age 4 months. They lived with Dora's parents, Wm. H. & Susan ROGERS. Before 1920, Lee or Levi, had married Ida B. MOORE and they were parents of Carnell age 3 and Lee age 1. By 1930 Lee & Ida resided in Okfuskee co, OK. Their children included: Caswell L. age 13, J. R "Lee" age 11, Jack age 6, and twins Doris & Doyle age 1 and 8 months.

Levi or Levy "Lee" Jackson b. 8 Sept.1888 Alma, Crawford
Lena P. CARTER b. Nov. 1891
Frank L. Frankie CARTER daughter b. May 1894

I found a death index entry for a Jarrett Carter who died in Fort Smith, Sebastian co. AR on 26th Feb. 1934. Is this the same Jarrett CARTER?
Where were Jarrett and his brothers in 1880? Who were their parents ? Thanks,
