Salem Cemetery at Plainview; West on Highway 28, pass school two blocks, turn right on Yell County Road # 12. Go 2 1/2 miles north. Well kept cemetery at church in Kingston community. Margaret S. Hoskins 01 Nov 1863 - 07 Apr 1924 Mack D. Dixon 1878 - 1912 No Stout listed in this cemetery. This birth date made me wonder about your statement that Sarah P. Stout Dixon, mother of Margaret Dixon, was born in 1858. Since I knew that the Dixon, Stout and Hoskins are Pope County names, I also checked in the records here in Pope County. Here is what I found. Marriage Book A page 108 Sarah P. Stout age 18 to John C. Dixon age 20 on 25 Nov 1847 by Wm. Stout, Minister. 1850 Pope Co. AR census John C. DIXON 22 TN Sarah 20 Al Mary Ann L. 2 AR David J. 6/12 AR 1860 Pope Co. AR census Dover Township Dwelling 546 John C. Dixon 31 TN Sarah P. 30 AL David C. 10 AR James W. 8 AR Alfred B. 6 AR Isabel 4 AR William M. 2 AR 1870 Pope Co. AR census Wilson Township John C. Dixon 44 TN Sarah 42 AL David C. 20 AR James W. 18 AR Alfred B. 16 AR Nancy I. 14 AR William M. 12 AR Elizabeth Ann 10 AR Margaret S. 8 AR This is the Margaret you asked about. Houston 5 AR Eliza C. 6/12 AR Pope County, Arkansas marriage 1862-1892 Miss Maggie Dixon age 18 to J. L. Brown age 26 both of Atkins on 15 Sep 1881 by J. B. Wilson, JP Book E page 523 Mrs. Margaret Brown age 20 to W. J. Hoskins age 39 both of Atkins on 05 Feb 1885 by R. K. Hathway JP Book F page 155 Miss Sarah M. Stout age 22 to James W. Dixon 24 both of Wilson Township 06 Aug 1876 by James Cagle JP Book 74. This is son of John C. Dixon and Sarah P. Stout and his wife is the daughter of Alfred C. Stout age 39 in 1870 and his wife Rachel age 44. They are living next door to the Dixon family in Wilson Township. Could Alfred Stout be related to Sarah P. Stout? On the other side of the John C. Dixon family lived David Dixon family age 40 TN. Are David and John C. related? James W. Dixon and his wife, Sarah M. Stout, lived next door to his parents in the 1880 Pope Co. Census. John C. Dixon born 01 Dec 1828 died 17 Aug 1887 is buried in Old Baptist Cemetery at Center Valley in Pope County. His wife Sarah P. Dixon is not listed in this cemetery, but she could possibly buried in an unmarked grave there. There is a Jeff'n Hoskins buried in Hoskins Cemetery on Crow Mountain. No dates on his military stone, but he served in Co. F 70 Indiana Inf. in the Civil War. I have wondered if this was the William J. Hoskins who married Mrs. Margaret Brown. He is listed in Dwelling 84 in Gumlog Township in the 1880 Pope Co. census. If Sarah Dixon and Margaret Hoskins were living together, and Sarah was born in 1858, I suspect that they were sisters-in-law, not mother and daughter. Notify Administrator about this message?
