Charles Richard ‘Dick’ Whitmore m. Anna Clark m, Mr. Weber
Looking for information on:
Charles Richard ‘Dick’ Whitmore born about 1884 (some say December 1869) in Tennessee (some say Mississippi) – Dick married Anna second:
Anna Clark was born February 1881 (1900 Census for Bald Knob, although Hattie, her cousin/half sister was born January 1881 to Mary’s sister Hattie, so the dates are too close to be too true if correct – maybe Anna was really born 1882 – the 1910 Census for Paragould shows Anna born 1888 – that date is too late) in Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee and she died after 1937 in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington - Dick and Anna married probably before 1898 in probably Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas.
In 1900 Dick Whitmore was a railroad brakeman in Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas living with wife Anna and daughter Ruth – near many members of the Clark family; that census also says that his father was born in Virginia and his mother born in South Carolina.
In 1910 Dick, Ann and Ruth lived near to her sister Harriet and Henry Woosley in Paragould, Green County, Arkansas; that census says that his mother and father were born in Tennessee.
According to family history they lived later in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee; Dick later went to Texas and probably died there.
Anna and Dick had 1 child:
Ruth R. Whitmore was born May 1899 in probably Bald Knob, White County, Arkansas, and it has been said, according to family records, she later moved to Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Anna and Dick at some point, after 1910, had separated and Ruth was sent to stay with (Anna’s step-sister, Ruth’s Aunt) Hattie (Hatty) and Henry Woosley in Paragould; she grew up there (shown on the 1920 Census with Ruth, Henry and Mary Woosley).
Ruth married Frank Kenneth Gillette born May 12, 1893 in Clarion County, Pennsylvania and died August 13, 1970 (some say 1956) in Green Grove Lodge, Neptune Twp, Monmouth County, New Jersey (some say in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon) (for some reason, his death record is online at Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida – he is shown as a widower) – buried Mountain View Memorial Park, Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington – they married in 1923 in Greene County, Arkansas. Her cousin Mary Woosley was probably like a sister to her, although Mary Woosley was 12 years younger than Ruth Whitmore – Mary Woosley would have been age 11 at Ruth’s wedding. Ruth and Frank had 1 son.
Anna Clark Whitmore was called Anna Weber of St. Louis in one article. She was shown as Mrs. A. M. Webber of Tacoma in her brother Will’s obituary in 1937, so she was married at least three times; Anna married third Mr. Weber – they married before 1937. She was injured in a traffic accident and died a year later (sometime after 1937). She was buried in Washington.
Tried to find more on the Whitmore line and hit a brick wall...
Any help with this family is appreciated.
