Your post was from 2002. By any chance have you learned anymore about J.W. Scott's parents. I don't know of a J.W. (Jim) in my line, but two of my 2 gr uncles had moved to Washington Co, AR from Ozark Co, MO in the early 1880s...Gabriel Marion Scott and Green(up) Scott. Greenup became a captain in the Salvation Army somewhere, but Gabriel changed his name to Robert Franklin James and moved to Choctaw Nation (OKLA)in 1888. Also bought a fake diploma and became Dr. Frank James. He practiced medicine in OK until his death in 1933. Their parents were Rev. Flemmon Scott and Phebe James (IL / IN), but they didn't have a son named James, however. I was just wondering what took them to Wash. Co, AR...family, work, or what.
