Dear Wendy,
Hazel (O'Dell) Renfroe can help. She is 89 years old but has sharp, vivid, and happy memories of growing up on Bald Mountain in Choctaw, Van Buren Co.,Ark. She is from the last generations of old pioneer families that helped settle the area and still recalls the old stories passed down to her.
When several cousins left Van Buren Co. in the forties and fifties, they had family reunions in California and yearly gatherings on Decoration Day "back home." (I remember some great gatherings at the little church at Huie cemetery).
She has old letters, pictures, stories, old newspaper clippings from the Van Buren County Democrat, books published by Fishers and Jennings, and a DAR pedigree chart that includes the Jennings, Fisher's, Bradford and Suggs. She also knew the Holley family.
She misses hearing from you, give her a call.
Brenda
