Hi, Jesse C. Goff is brother to my great great grandfather, Joseph I. ( please not contrary to another post, not all the children had Caten for middle name) His father, James Jesse, was listed as being born in Tennessee in many census records, but on one of Josephs Census he list his father as being born in Ireland. This is not unusal as many people list a current or precurrant state as their birthplace even tho they actually were born in another country. I think in that era, you were better accepted if you were "born" in America. Seems like many of the Goffs moved from Tennessee to Arkansas in the Sharp County area.
