Marianne, Was there any date given for the notice in the newspaper? My GGrfather died sometime between the 1880 and 1900 census for unknown reasons and at an unknown location. His wife and children were in Craighead County on the 1900 census, as was his brother Rufus and family. The last child was born in Feb 1884 and her obit says she was born in Strawberry, AR.So, I can assume that he was alive for part of 1883, and if he lived to see his daughter's birth, he was alive in 1884 in the Strawberry, AR area.I kind of thought a date of the newspaper notice may give a clue of when he left Morgan Township, Sharp County.Rufus (R.C.) is his brother. It is likely Rufus left with him, or that the families left after he passed away.Either way, it might give me another time frame reference to add to the information I know.Thank you so very much for the lookup!
