pg.49-July 28, 1887; Geo. Birchfield who lives about three miles east of this place met with a serious mishap one day last week. While shoeing a mule he had occasion to use a drawing knife, and laying it down, the edge rested on some object, elevating it some distance from the ground and the back was against a rail. In changing his position his foot pressed against the edge with sufficient force to cut a very ugly gash. It bled freely and George came to town to have it dressed. Dr. Craig attended to the wound in his usual skillful manner.
