Nicholas Counts born about 1801 - 1802 married Louisa Shaw in Madison county MO April 8, 1833
I think William Counts who married Malinda Tongue june3, 1828 is Nicholas' brother.
The 1830 St Genevieve county census shows a George Counts, Gainum? Counts and a Nicholas Counts living near one another along with neigbors William Shaw and James Shaw.
The 1850 census of Madison County lists
Nicolas Counts age 49 b. Tenn with wife Louisa age 46 b. NY
son Adeniran ( Adoniram )age 17 MO, Nicholas J. age 12 MO, Edmond age 10 MO, Mary age 8 MO and Sarah age 7 MO
(This family is in the 1860 and 1870 Madison County census also)I think Nicholas died 1877, not sure when Louisa died.
nearby live William age 26 b MO and Sarah Counts family and Wm D age 23 MO and Mary A Counts families.
I'm trying to find the parents of Louisa Shaw. I have no record of her father. Her mother's name is Thurza or Thursea (maiden name unknown to me) b 1775 in Massachusetts. I find them in Ostego county New York early 1800s before settling in Missouri. Thursea lived her later life in Sharp County Arkansas with her sons Adoniram and John Shaw.
Louisa was born about 1806 in New York ... probably Ostego County. I know she has a brother named Adoniram a sister named Mariah. Mariah married and lived in West Virginia or Maryland ... I believe she also has a brother John L. Shaw and maybe William.
Louisa's sister is my great great great grandmother. This is my Shaw / McPIke mystery. ... my ggggrandmother is known only to me as "miss" Shaw of Missouri who married Haley McPike in MO around 1820. I know her siblings names and her mother's name is Thurzy, but what is her first name?
My great great grandfather George Washington McPike buried in the Street family cemetery in Calamine had a son named Adoniram also.
Please if anyone doing research on Shaws or Mcpikes in Arkansas. Please help me solve my genealogical mystery. :) Thanks, bill pittillo
