Phyllis,

I have a Margaret Bland, b abt 1817, who married a Wright. I don't know his first name. She was the daughter of Abel Bland (b abt 1788 NC, d 1865 Hempstead Co, AR) and Ann James/Gains.

Abel's will was filed in 1865 in Hempstead Co.

Margaret had a brother named Benjamin b abt 1809 in Henry Co, KY who married Martha Ann Reid in 1838 in Red River Co, TX. They had at least 9 children. Benjamin was a circuit preacher.

Some of the Blands were born in Indiana.

In the time frame you're looking at, Sevier and Hempstead Counties would have been adjacent since Howard Co. was not formed until 1873.
