Christine, maybe I can answer one of your questions. I believe that only one or two reasons the Edwards family were in Leslie, Searcy Co., AR., in the early 1900's. First, the Missouri & North Arkansas Railroad tracks were built through the town of Leslie in 1903 and the small town became a terminus. Second, the H.D. Williams Cooperage Co. moved it's operation from Poplar Bluff, MO. to Leslie in 1907. This plant became the largest, of its kind, in the world. This plant mfg. dozens of different items made from hardwood. It is best know for the mfg. of staves to be used for barrels and kegs in the distillery business. The company used it's own railroad cars, about 60 in number, to ship its barrels and kegs to all parts of the U.S. and Mexico. It is said that some 1200 men and 300 teams of mules and horses were used to carry on daily operations at the cooperage. I hope this can give you a start to answer the other questions you have. Bob
