My cousin Annette and I are very interested in James J. Gipson (aka as J. J.), who was the son of Elizabeth Unknown and John W. Gipson. J.J. was a colorful character it seems from legal documents I've copied. This is what I show on the Longs:

Descendants of John B. Long

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN B.1 LONG was born 1838 in Arkansas, and died August 10, 1892 in Scott County, Arkansas. He married ELIZABETH UNKNOWN February 04, 1866 in Scott County, Arkansas. She was born March 1841 in Arkansas, and died September 29, 1907 in Bates, Arkansas.

June 6 1998 Query Board
Looking for the maiden name of Elizabeth who married Gipson, Moore, Long. She died in 1907 in the Bates area. She was the mother of James J Gipson, Elias M Moore and Benjamin F Long. She was born around 1840, married John W Gipson who died in Scott Co around 1855; James Moore who died in Scott Co around 1864; then married John B Long in 1866.

Obituaries & Deaths from Scott County Newspapers 1887-1908 Volume 1 page 68
The Advance Reporter, 4 October 1907 - From Bates
Grandma Long, mother of BF Long, died Sunday and was buried Monday. She was a woman the writer highly prized, and the relatives and friends have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

The Weekly Sentinel - 4 October 1907, Bates Breeze
Mrs. Betty Long, mother of BF Long of Gipson, died Sunday after a short illness. Mrs. Long was 68 years old and is survived by eight children and several grandchildren. While we sympathize with them in their hour of sorrow, we hope and believe that Heaven has gained what they have lost.
